Program Services
The Guardian Scholars Program assists students in the following areas:
- One-stop resource center
- Designated Bruin Resource Center staff to coordinate services and assist with student challenges and problems
- Referrals to campus resource liaisons for academic advising and support, tutoring, housing issues, financial aid issues, scholarship opportunities, career counseling and confidential personal matters
- Year-round access to housing
- Bruin Guardian Scholars student group (undergraduate student organization for youth exiting foster care)
- Student advocacy
- Community-building social events
- Welcome reception at the beginning of fall quarter, a Thanksgiving dinner, and an end-of-the-year celebration in May.
- Monthly academic and enrichment workshops
- Student employment opportunities
- Connection to scholarship opportunities for foster youth (e.g., the Carl H. Unruh Undergraduate Scholarship)
