Program Services

The Guardian Scholars Program assists students in the following areas:

  • One-stop resource center
  • Designated Bruin Resource Center staff to coordinate services and assist with student challenges and problems
  • Referrals to campus resource liaisons for academic advising and support, tutoring, housing issues, financial aid issues, scholarship opportunities, career counseling and confidential personal matters
  • Year-round access to housing
  • Bruin Guardian Scholars student group (undergraduate student organization for youth exiting foster care)
  • Student advocacy
  • Community-building social events
  • Welcome reception at the beginning of fall quarter, a Thanksgiving dinner, and an end-of-the-year celebration in May.
  • Monthly academic and enrichment workshops
  • Student employment opportunities
  • Connection to scholarship opportunities for foster youth (e.g., the Carl H. Unruh Undergraduate Scholarship)
